Paper Sack Brown

Tonight we went and bought "Paper Sack Brown" paint and are painting various walls in our house this color. It actually looks pretty good. I'm impressed. We painted the fireplace wall and are going to paint the stairwell and hallway this color to help with the gunk on those little fingers to not stick out so much as they do on "white chocolate" walls. This will also give Mike a big job to keep him busy during his "no job" time.
I am so praying and hoping that a call will come this next week offering him a job that he interviewed for before Christmas.

Hailey is having issues tonight. We visited "House of Scales" (Jason's exotic pet store). Hailey fell in love with a bunny and guinea pig. Jake touched a lizard and a tarantula. We all watched alligators eat a tiny mouse and then we went in the back to see the big ones. I forgot what this thing was called but it sort of looks like a komodo dragon but smaller. Jason fed it a rat. The poor rat screamed in terror as it was slung around in the cage and mouth of the dragon. Hailey being the animal lover was in tears as we left the store and drove home. She brought up several time throughout the evening that 'life isn't fair; the rat didn't deserve to die by being eaten". Poor thing. She was heart broken over these poor little rats. I tried to explain to her that the rats are purposely raised for snake and lizard food. She came back with 'Jesus didn't make them for that'. Smart 6 year old. Of course, this conversation and tears were occurring at the same time we were eating Chicken!
I think I will wait to tell her about the chicken and cow life cycles.

She was also crying because she wants a guinea pig. Of course I am highly allergic to anything that sheds. In fact, I had to come home and take benadryl just because of our 20-30 minute animal excursion at Jason's. Hailey started the bargaining at 8.
"Can I have a guinea pig at 8?"
"No."
"9?"
"You can have one when you are 18 and out of the house"
Tears rolling down again.
"You are going to kick me out at 18?"
"Yes, you'll be off to college and then you will get married and have your own family someday"
"I know that but I still want to live here!"
"You won't want to live with me when you are married and have kids!"
"Yes I will, I want to live with you forever"
This was a bittersweet statement. The unconditional love a child has for its parents but also the thought of living with me forever. . . I will need more hair dye.

Resolutions

Ok so one of my New Year Resolutions is to spend more time documenting life happenings.
There are so many cute sayings, daily thoughts, discussions, actions, etc. that go unmentioned or forgotten but were encouragement, ice breakers or life changing that I felt like I needed to write about them. Many of my friends tell me "You need to document that" well I don't really have time to journal with real handwriting in a book like my mom does, so it will have to go like this.

Bear with me as I learn about this blogging stuff. Most of it will be pretty boring for you to read but it is basically just for me to get it down on "paper" if you will.

Hailey had her tonsils out on NYEE(12/30/09 for those of you acronomically challenged). She has done well with the pain so far. Dr. Wei stated that the worst days are toward the end of the healing i.e. days 4-7. So today is day 3, we will see what it brings.

Her tonsils were terrible. Dr. Wei said she was very happy that we decided to remove them. During surgery she found that they were large and growing inward down her throat and had many pus pockets which meant an ongoing infection most of the time.

I am still fighting a cold or sinus infection or whatever this is. It is driving me crazy.

I hear the kids fighting so blogging is over for now!
